About the Chef
|
Chef Walter Lents is the head chef at Jones Heritage Farm & Market. His philosophy with food is to “keep it simple---there’s no need to cover or complicate a dish when you work with some of the best products out there.” Chef Walter’s love of food extends from a simple BBQ sandwich to an elaborate “white tablecloth” dinner. He credits his parents as being his greatest influence in his decision to become a chef.
Walter was born in Memphis, TN, but his family moved to Cape Girardeau when he was just three years old. He developed a love of cooking early in life, and began his career in the culinary world as a chef at Celebrations in 2004. He went on to receive his degree in Culinary Arts from the Art Institute of Dallas in 2007. His repertoire as a chef prior to joining the Jones Heritage Farm team in 2010 includes Celebrations, Marquette Restaurant & Bar, and My Daddy's Cheesecake.
In his spare time Chef Walter enjoys spending time with his lovely wife, Jenna, and also looks forward to Sunday afternoons spent grilling & cooking with his parents. His hobbies include hunting and fishing.
